Pura Cup South Australia v Queensland at Adelaide Oval

The 10th game of this seasons Pura cup took place at Adelaide Oval between the Queensland Bulls & the Southern Redbacks.

Bulls skipper Jimmy Maher won the toss & batted on a greenish strip , a decision he was initially made to regret as Clinton Perren was dismissed by the in form Paul Rofe , Maher & Martin Love then steadied the ship before both were dismissed with the score on 62 , Andrew Symonds then holed out for 10 & James Hopes was trapped in front by Greg Blewett , leaving the Bulls in dire straights at 5-110.
An 88 run stand between veteran batsman Stuart Law (75 , 12 fours) & in form keeper Wade Seccombe (67 , 6 fours) restored their innings , however 2 late wickets to Jason Gillespie left the Bulls 9-289 at stumps.

Number 11 Michael Kasprowics was eventually dismissed for 49 early on day 2 , having put on a vital 58 with Seccombe for the last wicket , the Bulls all out for a competitive 310 , Gillespie (3-49) proving he is back to full fitness while John Davison chipped on with 3-48.

The Redbacks then started in scratchy fashion , loosing Shane Deitz to test paceman Andy Bichel & David Fitzgerald to a terrible stroke off Nathan Hauritz , Greg Blewett & Andy Flower then consolidated , both registering half centuries on the way to a 71 run stand , Blewett was then bowled by Bichel for 62 & Flower edged behind off the same bowler after compiling his maiden first class half century in Australia ( 82 , 11 fours , 1 six).
Mark Higgs , Mark Cosgrove & Graeme Manou all made starts before throwing their wickets away , Bichel then cleaned up the tail to give the Bulls first innings points with the Redbacks all out for 301 , Bichel grabbing 6-61 , however he received minimal support.

The Bulls started in disastrous fashion , the fiery Paul Rofe dismissing internationals Maher , Love & Symonds to send the Bulls crashing to 5-46 , however for the second time in the match the experienced pairing of Law & Seccombe saved the day , putting on a sensible 138 run stand to reclaim the initiative , Law again falling in the 70’s (72 , 10 fours) , Bichel & Seccombe then sharing a quickfire 69 run stand , Bichel eventually holing out for 44 , while Seccombe registered his hundred , eventually lbw to Davison for 115 (13 fours , 1 six).
The Bulls were eventually all out for 274 an hour before stumps , Rofe & Higgs taking 3 wickets each , as the Redbacks were set a challenging 284 for victory.
However all hopes of victory had been severely dented by stumps , Kasprowics & Bichel taking 2 wickets each to have the Redbacks free-falling at 4-16 at the close.

A solid start was vital & Andrew Flower & Mark Higgs provided , grafting a 103 run stand before Flower was deceived by Kasprowics for 56 , Higgs met a similar fate after lunch for 71 (12 fours , 1 six) to all but end the contest , Cosgrove & Manou again made promising starts but the pressure proved to great , the Redbacks all out for 222 , Bichel (4-52) & Kasprowics (5-84) doing the bulk of the damage.

The Bulls ending up 61 run victors , however they remain in 4th place despite their 6 points , the Redbacks remain 2nd.

Summary-
Queensland 310 (Law 75 , Seccombe 67 , Gillespie 3-49) & 274 (Seccombe 115 , Law 72 , Rofe 3-53) defeated
