Same again for England

Thursday, January 8 2004

The 15 names announced for England's forthcoming Test tour of the West Indies are precisely the same 15 initially named for the 2003 tour of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Chairman of Selectors David Graveney said "Steve Harmison is now fully recovered from the back injury which ruled him out of the Sri Lanka Test Series and we expect there will be keen competition for places in the pace bowling department."

One name not on the list is Simon Jones, but Graveney added "The reports we have had from the National Academy indicate that Simon Jones is making good progress in his recovery from a knee injury."

Jones is expected to be part of the England 'A' set-up competing in the Duleep Trophy in India in February, and Graveney left his options open with respect to him being added to the West Indian tour squad at a later date, although Andy Caddick has been discounted for the time being.

"Andrew Caddick was not considered for selection for the West Indies tour as he needs time to complete his rehabilitation following back surgery. But his recovery is going according to plan and we hope he will be available for selection this summer." added Graveney.
