Australia 'A' Squads Named

Wednesday, December 17 2003

Australian selectors have allowed a glimpse into the future of the national cricket side by opting to select youthful outfits for the Australia 'A' tour matches.

In the side for the three-day match against India starting on Friday, experienced heads such as Matthew Elliott, Greg Blewett, Michael Kasprowicz and Brad Hogg were left out in favour of youth.

The main beneficiaries were Chris Rogers, Cameron White and Shaun Tait - three players who have failed to dominate the first class scene while showing glimpses of talent in their short careers.

The side is lead by Mike Hussey, with Michael Clarke his deputy.

The one-day side to play Zimabwe in 2 matches takes an even more youthful look, with no player in the squad over the age of 26.

Clarke will lead the side, with ODI player Shane Watson as his deputy.

Also included in the side are arguably Australia's brightest batting talents Shaun Marsh and Mark Cosgrove. Cosgrove is the youngest in the side at the age of 19.
