Ganguly doubtful, Nehra ruled out

Tuesday, March 16 2004

Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is a doubtful starter for tomorrow's (Tuesday) second one-day international against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, due to a mild fever, which prevented him from attending a practice session. In case Ganguly doesn't recover fully by the time for the start of the match, vice-captain Rahul Dravid will take the helm.

Left-arm paceman Ashish Nehra has been ruled out of the encouter too, following a recurrence of an ankle problem. Nehra bowled a vital final over on Saturday, allowing Pakistan just three runs to gain a five-run victory for the tourists. It is likely that rookie Irfan Pathan, who impressed on the recent tour to Australia, will take his spot in the final eleven.

India at least welcome back in-form batsman VVS Laxman to the playing team, after he missed the first match, due to a knee injury.
