Nicholson Returns to Blues

Sunday, June 1 2003

Former Australian Test paceman Matthew Nicholson will return to his home state of New South Wales following an extended stint at the WACA with Western Australia.

Nicholson, a fast yet wayward right armer, will strengthen the strong Blues pace bowling fraternity which already includes Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, Stuart Clark, Nathan Bracken, Don Nash and Doug Bollinger.

He leaves the Warriors following a release during the week after spending much of the past 2 summers on the outer with coach Mike Veleta.

In other news for NSW, Corey Richards is set to lose his contract with the state following inconsistent form since the 1998-99 summer.

Mark Waugh and Michael Slater are both expected to play on next summer despite rumours of retirement for the former Test pair.
