Tuesday, April 22 2003

After much speculation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed Dav Whatmore as the coach of Bangladesh for the next two years.

Speaking at a press conference here in Dhaka, Ali Asghar confirmed the media that Whatmore has been given the job. He becomes the seventh foreign coach for Bangladesh since 1990.

On the back of the Sri Lankan teams dismal performance in Sharjah, he will take control of the Bangladesh side for the Australia tour in July 2003.

Whatmore played Test Match cricket for Australia in the 1970's and now he is touted as the most paid coach of Bangladesh since Gordon Greenidge.
