Wasim Signs Off With Hants

Thursday, July 17 2003

A bout of poor health has finished off Pakistani legend Wasim Akram's term with English County Cricket Club, Hampshire. Akram, who has a known diabetic condition made the decision on the advice of his doctor.

Wasim wished Hampshire all the very best, and success in the future. In five County Championship games, Wasim has taken 20 wickets at a very good average of 25.15.
Hampshire are dissapointed with this revelation, but wish Wasim a speedy recovery.

Hampshire have already started looking for a replacement to fill the huge void which Wasim leaves. Hampshire already have yet to win a game in the County Championship and are placed in a rather negative spot at second last in Division 2.

Wasim Akram recently announced his retirement from Test's and One Day Cricket. He is 37 years of age, and is recognised as one of the all time great fast bowlers and all rounders the game has ever produced.
