NCL: Sharks vs Dynamos

Wednesday, July 23 2003

Sussex completed a thrilling win over Durham at Hove in their NCL clash. Sussex won by 8 runs and gained 4 points to move to 9th on in Division 2.

Batting first, the Sharks only managed 169/9 in their 45 overs with Mark Davis topscoring with 30 off 41 balls. Killeen (2/23 [9]) was the pick of the bowlers with Davies (2/33 [9]) and Bridge (2/31 [9]) also chipping in.

The Durham Dynamos' reply got off to a horrible start as Peng (1), A.Pratt (0), Wells (4) and G.Pratt fell in rapid succession to leave the score at 19/4. Only 7 runs later, Durham captain Lewis knicked Ben Taylor to the keeper for 6.

Gordon Muchall (58 0ff 112) and Phillip Mustard (32 off 34) staged a bit of a recovery with a 36-run partnership, but when Mushtaq Ahmed had Mustard LBW, the score was a struggling 62/5. Mushtaq Ahmed later accounted for Bridge (16) and Hopkinson for Ahktar (9). Killeen joined Muchall with the score at 103/8 and 67 runs needed. The two put on 52 runs to the cause but Taylor returned to trap Killeen in front for 10. Davies and Muchall added a further 6 runs before Muchall was unfortunately run out to leave the Dynamos all out at 161.

Hutchinson (3/30 [9]), Taylor (3/26 [9]) and Mushtaq Ahmed (2/32 [9]) did the major damage with the ball. Muchall was named Man of the Match.
