Phillips named SA coach

Thursday, May 8 2003

Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Wayne Phillips has been named as the Southern Redbacks coach for the next two seasons.

Phillips, who played 27 tests and 48 one-day internationals for Australia, has been involved in coaching with the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy since 1996. He has also coached the Australian Under 19 team.

Phillips replaces another former South Australian test player, Greg Chappell, who saw only sporadic success during his five year stint with the Redbacks.
