Warne Joins Nine

Warne serving a one year ban for taking a banned drug in a diuretic last summer, has been chosen for the Channel 9 commentary team for the test and one-day series against Bangladesh in Darwin and Cairns later this month.

"Shane is under contract to us and we thought some of our regular commentators such as Richie Benaud away (in england) it was a good chance to use him" a nine spokesperson said.

Warne unable to play cricket until his suspension expires in February next year, has been spending time helping the St Kilda football club and doing charity work.

He is still unsure of how much connection with the game he can have next summer for the ACB and the players body, the Australia Cricketers Association, are yet to formalise an arbitration hearing deciding what level of involvement is appropriate for the star australian leg spinner.

The first test against Bangladesh starts in Darwin on July 18th.

The full test and one-day series will be given the full live television coverage due to a joint arrangement by channel nine and the ABC.
