Provisional Academy Squad

Head coach of the English academy Rod Marsh yesterday announced the provisional 15-man squad for this winter’s class.

Marsh highlighted the academy’s role in preparing England for the 2007 World Cup, highlighted by a number of multi-skilled players.

The most intriguing name in the squad is that of Kevin Pietersen, the South African-born Nottinghamshire batting all-rounder.

He becomes eligible for the English squad at the end of 2004.

Graham Wagg and Matthew Prior will be enjoying their second stint with the academy.

Also included is promising fast bowler Sajid Mahmood, tipped by former English coach David Lloyd for English honours by the end of this year. Kadeer Ali, brother of ODI
player Kabir, will also take part.
