20/20 Finals Heads North

Saturday, April 26 2003

It has been announced by the EBC that the Finals Day of the revolutionary new Twenty 20 Cup will be held at Trent Bridge, Nottinghamshire replacing the common location of final matches, Lord's.

Lord's was orginally the ECB's first choice, however locals of St John's Wood objected to loud music at the home of cricket in the past, and the possiblity of problems again when Atomic Kitten headline the music on the finals day.

As a result Westminster City Council turned down an application for an entertainments licence at Lord's, and the EBC were forced to either drop the music or change the venue.

As a main aim of the competition was to attract a new audience the decision was taken to move away from its traditional base.
