Hoggard Returns To Action

Saturday, July 26 2003

Matthew Hoggard the Yorkshire and England seamer is targeting a return to action from a torn cartilage next week with Yorkshire.

Matthew Hoggard tore the cartilage in his knee during a C&G Trophy defeat to Worcestershire back in May.

Hoggard had hoped for a quicker return to action in an attempt to stake his claim for the first Test at Edgbaston that started yesterday, however the injury healed slower than anticipated and forcing him to put the comeback date back.

Matthew Hoggard said

"I've been pencilled in for my first game in the next couple of weeks and I've already been bowling off a shortened run in the nets. I have had to go back and realign my feet again to stop them crossing over and stop it happening again. But I'm hopeful of playing again soon and I hope to jog the selectors' minds in the next two or three weeks."
