Tendulkar ruled out of first Test

India's batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out of the first Test against Australia starting tomorrow (Wednesday, October 6) at Bangalore.

Tendulkar, who missed both the Videocon Cup in Holland and the ICC Champions Trophy in England, is suffering from a tennis elbow injury, which is a result of continuous wear and tear caused because of the amount of cricket he has played over a lengthy period of time.

Tendulkar was already considered doubtful for the Bangalore Test, as a result of which Mohammed Kaif was named in the Indian squad as a cover.

However, Kaif's chances of playing are extremely slim, as captain Sourav Ganguly indicated today in a press conference that Aakash Chopra might keep his place in the side as an opener, with his initially speculated replacement Yuvraj Singh continuing at number six in the batting line-up.
