Pakistan stars to be contracted

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is following the lead of several other national cricket boards, by planning a contract system for their players, to be implemented by the end of this month. As per the system, fifteen of the country's top players will be handed a contract during each annual installment.

While their neighbours, India struggle to strike a balance in their system which will please all the parties, Pakistan have apparently already worked out the plan, and are ready to put it into practice as soon as possible.

The PCB was earlier reluctant of introducing central contracts on demand of senior players like Inzamam-ul-Haq and Yousuf Youhana, because of financial problems. However, with the revenues collected from the recent home series against India, they seem to have enough money power to go ahead with the system.

Pakistan cricketers are currently paid only match fees, with the most senior player, Inzamam, earning US$4,200 and the least experienced a mere $1000 for a single One-Day International.
