TOTESPORT LEAGUE DIVISION 2 - 25TH JULY 2004

Yorkshire vs Somerset

Yorkshire maintained their promotion challenge in a game reduced to 41 over a side. Somerset had looked safe when another hundred from Ricky Ponting (113) took them to 252 for 6, but the home side cantered home by six wickets with a couple of overs to spare. Matt Wood (56) and Michael Lumb (71) made vital contributions, but it was 20-year-old Andrew Gale who saw them home, with an unbeaten 70.

Leicestershire vs Durham

In a game reduced to 39 overs a side, Durham's promotion hopes took a dent. A 95-run partnership between Hodge (46) and Stevens took them to 176 for 7, which didn't look enough. However, tight bowling and excellent fielding which triggered three run-outs kept Durham behind the asking rate. Despite 55* from Gary Pratt, they finished 15 runs short.
