Keith Miller Passes Away

Monday, October 11 2004

Legendary Australian all-rounder Keith Miller has passed away today in a Melbourne nursing home.

Miller played 55 Test matches during the middle period of the 20th century. After serving in World War II as a fighter pilot, the Victorian all-rounder made his Test debut in 1945-46 after a string of impressive performances for his home state in his late teens.

Despite averaging only 37 with the bat at Test level, his batting on its day was masterfully destructive - combined with his 170 Test wickets, this marks him as one of the greats of Australian cricket.

Miller was aged 84.
