Bichel Decline Continues

The Australian selectors unceremoniously dumped Bichel on the scrap heap at the end of the Australian summer going from first choice to outside the top 20 or so cricketers in the country overnight, but today Bichel's year went from bad to worse as he was also dumped by English county side Worcestershire after a disappointing summer.

Bichel was recruited as a strike bowler but failed to deliver the goods for Worcestershire as his summer with the ball produced just 33 wickets at 46.93 apiece, although he performed better than expected with the bat, hitting 717 runs at 42.17. Bichel's poor summer in turn lead to his side being relegated from division 1 of the County Championship.

"We haven't made a decision over our two overseas players for next summer but Bichel will definitely not be coming back," Tom Moody, the director of cricket, explained. "He's keen to spend time with his young family and, although he may look to return on a short-term contract for a month or two over here, he does not want to commit to six months."

Meanwhile South African international Andrew Hall who also had a poor summer looks like he will be following Bichel out of the door, although the county have yet to finalize a decision.
