Hamstrung Hogg Hobbling Home

Tuesday, September 21 2004

Australia has suffered a blow in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy Semi-Final, with wrist-spinning all-rounder Brad Hogg ruled out with a torn hamstring.

Bowling in the nets in preparation for the match, Hogg tore his hamstring just above the knee, ensuring he would play no part in the tournament.

The rehabilitation process for the likeable spinner could take up to 5 weeks - effectively ruling him out cricket till the start of the Australian domestic summer.

Selectors are yet to decide on a replacement, with Nathan Hauritz and Cameron White possible call-ups should they opt to take another player.

His injury leaves Shane Watson, Brett Lee and Ian Harvey to tussle for the number 8 position in the XI.
