Bond to undergo surgery

Sunday, August 1 2004

As reported a couple of days back, New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond has suffered another injury setback, a second stress fracture, within one year. It is now certain that he will have to undergo a surgery, if he wants to have any hopes of resurrecting his career.

Bond has missed an entire year, as a result of constant back problems, which included his first stress fracture, and consequent surgery.

Bond was controversially selected for New Zealand's recent tour of England, where he failed to play even a single Test of the three, and could take part in only two warm-up matches.

Bond is tentatively slated to undergo surgery on August 19, which puts him out of contention for selection atleast upto the start of the New Zealand season, as he will need three to six months to heal.
