Bashar back for Bangladesh

Sunday, October 31 2004

Bangladesh's captain Habibul Bashar has been included in the ODI squad to play New Zealand, after missing out the Test series as a result of a thumb injury.

Bashar missed the recently concluded two-Test home series loss against the Kiwis as well as September's ICC Champions Trophy in England, as he was recovering from a surgery on his broken right thumb.

Bashar replaces all-rounder Alok Kapali, whereas left-arm spinner Enamul Haque Jr and the seamer Tareq Aziz have made way for former captain Khaled Mahmud and fast bowler Nazmul Hossain.

Meanwhile, the Kiwis will be led by left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori, after Stephen Fleming headed back home on conclusion of the Test series.

Bangladesh squad:
Habibul Bashar (captain), Rajin Saleh, Khaled Mashud (wicket-keeper), Javed Omar, Khaled Mahmud, Mohammad Ashraful, Manjural Islam, Tapash Baisya, Mushfiqur Rahman, Mohammad Rafique, Nafis Iqbal, Aftab Ahmed, Nazmul Hossain.
