Brett Lee has been released from the Australian Test squad for the third and final Test against Pakistan. The fast bowler will instead play for New South Wales as he seeks to tune up for the upcoming VB Series also involving the Pakistan and the West Indies.

Called up to the squad are legspinner Stuart MacGill and allrounder Shane Watson. MacGill has not played Test cricket since the second Test against Sri Lanka earlier this year, when he was wicketless. In total he has taken 152 wickets in 32 Tests. Watson, on the other hand, is yet to play a Test for Australia, though he has some 27 ODI caps.

The Test match begins on the 2nd of January.
