Wednesday, December 8 2004

The Indian government has cleared the national team to go ahead with their tour of Bangladesh, after a security assessment following a terrorist threat, to the cricketers, deemed the country safe to visit.

The tour looked in doubt up until yesterday, after it was revealed on Saturday that the Indian High Commission in Dhaka has received a letter threatening to kill Indian cricketers if they toured the country.

The security panel, which visit Dhaka yesterday, has given the nod for that venue, however, they are yet to make a decision on Chittagong, which is slated to host the second Test.

The Indian team, originally supposed to leave today, will fly out to the capital tomorrow, with the first of what is scheduled to be two Tests gets underway day after.

The Indians are also supposed to play three ODIs in the country, the first one of them being in Chittagong on 23rd on this month.
