David Lucas signs with Yorkshire

Thursday, December 9 2004

Left-arm seamer, David Lucas has signed a four-month contract with Yorkshire, as he will help fill the void with Steve Kirby's departure. Kirby, a fellow seamer, left for Gloucestershire after the 2004 season.

Lucas has not played in the County Championship for 3 years, last appearing in the 2001 season, when he played 5 matches but managed just 7 wickets at a cost of 71.37 each and an economy of 4.83.

His career statistics are somewhat better though, as he has 52 wickets in 22 First Class games at an average of 36.71. His batting average of 21.80 indicates usefulness with the bat, although he's never score a FC half-century.

In 30 List-A matches, Lucas has taken 41 wickets at 29.24.
