Harris undergoes surgery

Friday, December 17 2004

Kiwi all-rounder Chris Harris will miss the entire home ODI series against Sri Lanka starting Boxing Day, after undergoing surgery on his injured right shoulder.

Harris suffered a torn rotator cuff while fielding against Australia in Sydney last week in an ODI, which the visitors lost.

Despite suffering from the injury, Harris did come out to bat in the same ODI later in the day to keep New Zealand in win a chance of a series victory, but in vain.

Harris, a veteran of 250 ODIs, will miss a minimum of fives weeks of action, during which he will have to wear a sling so as to prevent unnecessary mobilization of the shoulder.
