Tait to undergo elbow surgery
18 Jun 2007
By: Zac Gelman

Australian fast bowler, Shaun Tait, will undergo surgery on his right elbow tomorrow, placing his Twenty20 World Cup hopes in doubt.

The surprise packet in the recent World Cup, Tait, taking 23 wickets, helped his side win a third successive World Cup, replacing the injured Brett Lee at the last minute before the tournament.

Now Tait himself faces time on the sidelines and will not be able to bowl again until August, according to team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris.

"Shaun is undergoing arthroscopic surgery to relieve soft-tissue impingement. We are hoping he will be back bowling by mid-August. This would leave him with a 50-50 chance of playing in South Africa," Kountouris said.
