Sibanda to play in Australia
23 Sep 2006
By: Arunava Das

Zimbabwe opening batsman Vusimuzi Sibanda is heading to Australia to play club cricket.

According to a media release from Zimbabwe Cricket, the batsman was offered a contract by a club in Australia.

Sibanda is upbeat about the move, stating "Playing in the more competitive environment of Australia will enable me to grow mentally and improve as a cricketer much faster than I would if I continued to play club cricket locally."

The Zimbabwe coach, Kevin Curran, was positive about the move, stating that "in the past, stints in Australia benefited Douglas Hondo and Stuart Matsikenyeri as players and that impacted positively on their local provincial and national teams."
