Kallis recognized by SA Cricket
28 Sep 2005
By: Liam Camps

Jacques Kallis was among five cricketers named as South Africa's Cricketers of the Year, at a programme held on Monday in Gauteng. Others recognized were fast bowlers Makhaya Ntini and Andre Nel, and batsmen AB de Villiers and Boeta Dippenaar.

For Kallis and Ntini, it is the fourth time that they have received the award. They join Shaun Pollock, Alan Donald, Ken McEwan and Clive Rice as the ones to boast such a statistic.

Whilst, this year, Kallis moved to the head of the class in terms of Test centuries by a South African, Ntini claimed the 13/132 against the West Indies - the best Test figures by a South African. Much like Ntini, Nel made incisive and impressive inroads with the ball, taking 17 wickets in three Tests he played against the West Indies.

AB de Villiers scored heavily for an average of 53.72 in his first season of Test cricket, and Boeta Dippenaar made his name in One Day International cricket. Almost left out of the ODI squad for the series against the West Indies, Dippenaar went on to score 317 runs in 5 innings, receiving the Man of the Series award.
