Boucher faces backlash
16 Aug 2007
By: Zac Gelman

South African wicket-keeper Mark Boucher will face a disciplinary committee after criticising Cricket South Africa over its handling of Jacques Kallis this week.

Kallis was left out of the Twenty20 World Cup squad due to selectors not wanting to "sacrifice him in the Twenty20 format". However Kallis subsequently resigned as vice-captain of the Proteas and announced he was reconsidering his options in the sport.

Boucher came to the defence of his long time team-mate in a South African newspaper, being quoted as saying the omission from the squad was as a result of "either those who have an issue with him, and have a chip on their shoulders, or those who have ulterior motives."

Boucher now faces code of conduct charges and must face a panel on Friday to explain his comments.
