By: James Nixon

Jacques Kallis has been named as South African captain for the tour of Ireland with regular captain Graeme Smith forced out due to undergoing surgery on his left knee.

Shaun Pollock is being rested for the tour, while there is a place for new boy Vernon Philander. The squad also sees the return of JP Duminy, Morne van Wyk, Thandi Tshabalala and Dale Steyn.

Chairman of selectors Haroon Lorgat said upon announcement of the squad that "The selectors want to use this tour as an opportunity to introduce some new players into the one-day squad. Following the World Cup and the timing of this tour it is an ideal time to develop new talent as we prepare for the future."

South Africa play Ireland on 24th June followed by matches against India on 26th June, 29th June, and 1st July. India play the hosts on 23rd June.
