Border: South Africa are chokers
23 Feb 2007
By: Zac Gelman

Former Australian captain and selector Allan Border has today fired the first salvo in what may be an epic war of words between Australia and South Africa heading into the World Cup next month.

"They have got to shake that chokers tag," Border said.

"They keep missing out in the big moments, the big tournaments.

"They are a quality team, they deserve that No.1 ranking at the moment but going into the World Cup, do you want that around your neck or not?"

The current World Cup holders, Australia, and the current leaders in the ICC ODI rankings, South Africa, will play each other on the 24th of March, in what is expected to be a fiery encounter; their first one-day meeting since the record breaking ODI in Johannesburg, just under a year ago.
