SA complete whitewash
17 May 2005
By: Sudeep Popat

South Africa won the fifth and final ODI against West Indies, a shortened 20-over match because of rain, at Trinidad by seven wickets to complete a 5-0 whitewash.

The home side, batting first, after incessant morning rain which caused puddles of water accumulated on the field, to make play impossible until after 2 pm local time, thus pruning the affair to 20 overs-a-side, managed a total of only 138 for the loss of seven wickets, Dwayne Bravo top-scoring with an unbeaten 41.

The visitors reached the target without any hassles thanks to a flying start, made possible by A B de Villiers, who scored 30 in no time at all, and a salient innings by his opening partner, Boeta Dippenaar, who raised the tempo in the final overs to end up with 61 unbeaten.

We apologize for the unavailability of a more detailed report.

West Indies 138 for 7 in 20 overs
DJJ Bravo 41, A Nel 2/32, AJ Hall 2/21
South Africa 141 for 3 in 19.1 overs
HH Dippenaar 61*, IDR Bradshaw 1/21

Man of the Match: HH Dippenaar
Man of the Series: HH Dippenaar

South Africa won by seven wickets, and takes the series 5-0.
