Gibbs dropped down the order
23 Dec 2006
By: Zac Gelman

Out of form South African opener Herschelle Gibbs has been dropped down the order to 6th , as the Proteas search for answers to their shock loss to India last week.

Gibbs, who failed to trouble the scorers in each of the innings during his sides historic 123 run defeat to India, has come under intense pressure to keep his place in the side.

Proteas captain Graeme Smith told a news conference that there would be a couple of changes made to the side taking on India come Boxing Day.

"There will be one or two line-up changes in the top six," Smith said.

"AB going up front will probably be one change, with Herschelle going to number six."

Smith was adamant that his side could level the series with a win at Durban.

"There's no doubt that we can turn it around. We know we played badly and we know we have the ability to turn it around."
