South Africa ODI rained off

India's our of South Africa got off to a disappointing start, after the first ODI at Johannesburg was called off without a ball being bowled, due to persistent rain and a damp outfield. The deluge persisted well into the evening, before finally halting around 7 pm. By that stage, despite efforts to prepare the ground for a shortened match, there was little chance a game would be held.
Given the rushed schedule, there will be no reserve days, and the one day series between the two teams has now been shortened to 4 games. The next match is scheduled in Durban on November 22, whoever the forecast again threatens to spoil the start of the South African cricketing summer.Discuss this news item in the Cricket Web Forums
