Gibbs ready for Indian police
28 Sep 2006
By: James Nixon

Herschelle Gibbs is looking forward to finally clearing up the match-fixing scandal with Indian police next month.

Gibbs was banned for six months in 2000 after being caught up in the Hansie Cronje affair, but has now agreed to meet Indian police to lay the matter to rest.

Gibbs admitted to receiving 11,180 pounds from Cronje during a one-day international against India in 2000 to score less than 20 runs, but ended up scoring 74, and said he had forgotten about the deal.

Gibbs has said that he has a copy of the questions the Indian police want to ask and wants to sort everything out so he can help South Africa in trying to claim the Champions Trophy when it kicks off on 15th October.
