Smith to miss Sri Lanka tour

South African captain Graeme Smith has been ruled out of the upcoming Sri Lanka tour after tearing ligaments in his ankle.

Smith stuffered the injury while running over the weekend and it is not yet known how long he is likely to be on the sidelines for.

Ashwell Prince has been named to captain South Africa with normal vice-captain Jacques Kallis also out injured. Jacques Rudolph has been named as Smith's replacement in the touring party.

South Africa play two Test matches against Sri Lanka followed by a one-day international tri-series between South Africa, Sri Lanka and India.

The first Test starts on 27th July at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground. Following the first Test, the South African one-day squad will be announced.

Ashwell Prince (captain), Hashim Amla, Nicky Boje, Mark Boucher, AB de Villiers, Boeta Dippennaar, Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Hall, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Shaun Pollock, Dale Steyn, Thandi Tshabalala.
