Kallis to undergo elbow surgery
24 May 2006
By: James Nixon

Jacques Kallis is to undergo elbow surgery next week, to repair tendinitis in his left elbow that has troubled him since last November.

There will be a four to six week recovery period required South Africa physiotherapist Shane Jabbar has said, which is likely to force him out of South Africa's three Test tour of Sri Lanka in August.

Kallis should however be fit and ready to make his come back for South Africa in the Champions Trophy in India in September.

Kallis had a successful South African summer in averaging 37.83 with the bat and 32.85 with the ball against Australia, while he averaged 38.60 with the bat and 32.75 with the ball against New Zealand.
