Proteas re-arrange top order
24 Apr 2006
By: James Nixon

South Africa have re-arranged their top order for the 2nd Test against New Zealand at Cape Town with Boeta Dippenaar to open and Hashim Amla to bat three.

This is following Herschelle Gibbs having been dropped for the remaining two Tests against the Black Caps, with South African convenor of selectors Haroon Lorgat saying that Gibbs was showing signs of fatigue, and with the demanding season ahead it was felt he needed a rest.

Hashim Amla comes into the team on the back of a superb first-class domestic season for the Dolphins in scoring 893 runs at an average of 55.81.

South Africa 2nd Test Squad
Graeme Smith (captain), Mark Boucher, Nicky Boje, AB de Villiers, Boeta Dippenaar, Andrew Hall, Jacques Kallis, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Shaun Pollock, Ashwell Prince, Jacques Rudolph, Hashim Amla, Dale Steyn
