Tharanga suffers injury blow

Sri Lankan opener, Upul Tharanga, suffered a blow today with the news he would miss the opening two Tests against Bangladesh with a foot injury.
Tharanga, who has played in 12 Tests accumulating 675 runs during his short career, was injured when facing fast bowler Lasith Malinga during a practice session in the lead up to the first Test in Colombo.
"He is definitely out of the first Test as the doctors feel that it will take a minimum of seven days to heal. However, it appears that Tharanga will be doubtful for the second Test, too, which commences the following week," Tharanga's manager told the media.Discuss this news item in the Cricket Web Forums
