The Bangladesh Cricket Board have said they would welcome Dav Whatmore back as coach after his application for the Indian coaching role was turned down.

The general secretary for Bangladesh Cricket Mahbub Anam told media "Our door is still open for Whatmore. He is a great coach and the Bangladesh team has improved a lot during his four-year tenure."

South African Graham Ford who is currently coaching English county side Kent is leading the pack for the Indian coaching role.

Australian Shaun Williams is currently the interim coach for Bangladesh's upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. A permanent replacement will be confirmed after the conclusion of that tour.
