Bangladesh thrash Zimbabwe
30 Nov 2006
By: James Nixon

Bangladesh have thrashed Zimbabwe by nine wickets in the first of five one-day internationals thanks to a century by Shahriar Nafees.

Zimbabwe got off to a reasonable start getting to 52 before losing Stuart Matsikenyeri for 27.

From that moment forward, Zimbabwe struggled through the rest of their innings failing to put together any reasonable partnerships and finished on 184-9 from their 50 overs.

Abdur Razzak was the pick of the bowlers taking 4-33 and was supported well by fellow spinners Mohammad Rafique and Saqibul Hasan who took two wickets a piece.

In reply, Bangladesh were never threatened with Nafees and Aftab Ahmed coasting the hosts home in the 46th over with scores of 105 not out and 60 not out respectively.

Zimbabwe 184-9
Brendon Taylor 38, Elton Chigumbura 31, Stuart Matsikenyeri 27
Abdur Razzak 4-33, Saqibul Hasan 2-30, Mohammad Rafique 2-35
